James Chadwick has nearly thirty years’ experience advising content creators and publishers on legal risk mitigation, intellectual property protection, and content licensing. He has worked with national, regional, and local news media organizations, investigative journalists, documentary film makers and others, providing advice on identifying and mitigating legal risks prior to dissemination of their works, helping them protect their intellectual property rights, and assisting them with acquiring or providing content through licensing agreements. As a litigator, James defended media clients against claims based on their content, particularly for defamation and invasion of privacy. His clients prevailed in every defamation and invasion of privacy case he handled, including cases brought based on materials he had reviewed prior to distribution. He now focuses his practice on pre-release review and clearance and advising clients on legal compliance, intellectual property protection, and content licensing.
